This medication is used to treat male sexual function problems (erection problems).

HOW TO USE THIS MEDICATION

This drug is taken by mouth as needed between four hours and one-half hour before sexual activity (about one hour before is most effective). Take only as directed, usually once daily as needed. Sildenafil works along with sexual stimulation to help achieve an erection.

WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE?
This does not apply.

SIDE EFFECTS
Headache, flushing, stomach upset, nasal stuffiness, diarrhea and dizziness might occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.

PRECAUTIONS
Before using this drug, tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies (especially drug allergies), any penis conditions such as fibrosis/scarring, history of painful/prolonged erection (priapism), sickle cell anemia, blood system cancers (such as leukemia or myeloma), or Peyronie’s disease, eye problems (retina diseases). kidney or liver disease, bleeding disorders or active stomach ulcers, heart diseases, stroke or severe high or low blood pressure. Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate side effects of this drug. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. The elderly may be more sensitive to the side effects of this drug, therefore, caution is advised in this group.

WHAT INTERACTIONS CAN OCCUR WITH VIAGRA?
Do not take sildenafil if you are taking the following medications:
nitroglycerin-type drugs for the heart or chest pain such as amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin, even if these are only taken occasionally

Sildenafil may also interact with the following medications:
1-bosentan
2-certain drugs used for seizures such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital
3-certain drugs used for fungal or yeast infections, such as fluconazole, 4-ketoconazole, and voriconazole
5-cimetidine
6-cisapride
7-clarithromycin
8-diltiazem
9-erythromycin
10-grapefruit juice
11-mibefradil
12-niacin
13-certain medicines for the treatment of HIV infection or AIDS
14-nitroprusside
15-omeprazole
16-rifabutin
17-rifampin
18-quinidine
19-quinine

some drugs for treating depression, anxiety or other mood problems (examples: 1-fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone)
2-verapamil

Tell your prescriber or health care professional about all other medicines you are taking, including non-prescription medicines, nutritional supplements, or herbal products. Also, tell your prescriber or health care professional if you are a frequent user of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, if you smoke, or if you use illegal drugs. NOTES
Do not share this medication with others, since they may have a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug. Use of Viagra does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (e.g., HIV, Hepatitis B, gonorrhea).
